Our annual Dean Lake boat parade is Friday July 4th at 4 o’clock. The theme is “Anything Goes” so decorate as you please.
People in the parade put a lot of time and effort into decorating their boats for the parade, so we have a few guidelines again this year that we hope everyone will follow.
- Starting at the Island, the boat parade will do at least one complete loop around the lake so everyone can view the boats, and our judges can review and submit their votes for the best decoration. PLEASE DO ONE COMPLETE LOOP for the judges!
- The water fights are very popular, but we are asking to hold off until everybody makes it around the lake one time so the boats can be judged, and so the decorations aren’t messed up by incoming water and the like.
- There are some boat parade participants who do not want to be in the water fights, so please be respectful of these boats.
- Everyone on shore throwing and spraying water – please allow the parade to do a complete lap before joining in.
- No wake is in effect during the boat parade. Please allow the event to finish before tubing, skiing, etc.
- Water Balloons. Just like last year – after reviewing the information from Jaimee Desjardins of PLM (the company that treats the lake) regarding the negative effects water balloons have on aquatic wildlife, we are respectfully asking that you, your family and friends seriously consider using water super soakers (and similar) on the 4th of July instead of water balloons. It will keep our shores cleaner and all the Dean Lake fish, ducks, geese, birds, muskrats, herons, swans, turtles, etc. will be most appreciative. Information regarding effects of balloons
